Commis Chef, Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge

We have a great opportunity for a Commis Chef in the Courtyard Café in the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge on a permanent basis. 

We aim to be the best gallery catering facility in the world with a strong commitment to quality, service and sustainability in the food and drink we serve. The successful candidates should share this passion. 

The Commis chef position requires you to be flexible with your duties, working straight shifts for up to 4 days a week including weekends and the odd late evening. and you will also be covering for the Kitchen Porter in their absence. The best candidates will demonstrate the following:

•    previous experience in a similar kitchen as a Commis Chef or General Assistant
•    experience of working in a busy kitchen
•    some food knowledge and a desire to learn more
•    excellent knowledge of health & safety and food hygiene
•    strong, positive and professional communications skills
•    some understanding of cost control and minimising waste
•    consistently great food production skills
