BMR Solutions is currently looking to recruit a Supplier Quality Engineer to work for our client who is a large manufacturing / engineering company based in Clevedon, North Somerset.

Salary: ??32,000 - ??34,000

Our client requires a Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure the quality of supplied products or services meets regulatory, contractual and customer requirements. This is done through effective product verification, containment, problem resolution and supplier improvement activities. You will be the supplier quality point of contact. The role involves considerable time spent in liaison with Clevedon production. The role will also require some travel to visit suppliers and deal with quality issues and concerns and provide guidance.
Qualifications/Education/Certifications:
* HNC / HND Engineering. Full driving licence, IRCA / CQI membership preferred.
Key activities:
* Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions through 7-Steps Problem Resolution process 8D for supply chain issues.
* Act as quality point of contact for build lines, including co-ordinating material review teams and managing returns.
* Analyse data and information on allocated non-conformance issues and identify improvement opportunities.
* Train and coach suppliers to improve aspects of their business performance.
* Assist problem solving / corrective action teams by cross functional coordination between suppliers, designers and internal Quality functions.
* Carry out source inspection activities when required.
* Effectively manage undeclared supplier non-conformance containment and stock issues.
* Overall Supplier Quality control activities.
* Supplier quality improvement programs, Supplier Visits.
* NCR handling.
* Quality monitoring through PPM levels for supplier quality performance
* Timely information to the suppliers / Procurement department to take corrective actions in the process.
* Coordinating the incoming inspection activity.
* Follow up for NCR closer with supplier.
* Monthly supplier PPM calculation and communication to supplier and monitor improvements.
Skills and Experience:
* Engineering background with clear basic knowledge of manufacturing processes.
* Strong knowledge and skills of part measurements.
* Experience of quality standards such as ISO9001, SPC, PPAP, Quality tools is essential
* Good analytical ability.
* Good communication skills.
* Very good understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes like electro-mechanical assembly processes. Including knowledge of defects and remedies for the processes.
* Knowledge of Supplier Quality and Process improvements, regularly visiting suppliers and problem solving at supplier site.
* Open minded, solutions orientated, able to adjust to changing working environment.
* Additional knowledge of quality management systems, quality tools, six sigma etc.
* Quality control techniques.
* Ability to work with Word and Excel and Microsoft office.
