If yes, then you could be the cyber security apprentice we are looking for! Leading employers in the Energy and Transport sectors have partnered with The Department for Culture, Media and Sport to bring you opportunities to start an exciting career in cyber security. You could become a Cyber Apprentice at one of many participating organisations around the UK, including: E.ON, EDF Energy, Electricity North West, Horiba-Mira, IT 4 Automation, Network Rail, Northern Powergrid, SGN, SSE, UK Power Networks, Western Power, or the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

These are exciting jobs in industries which own and operate our essential infrastructure and services. The on-the-job experience and training you'll get will enable you to develop the advanced technical skills you need to prevent cyber crime, decrypt data and untangle malware. It will also help you build a foundation of knowledge in critical areas of cyber security - setting you up for a rewarding career.

On this 2 year programme you will complete a Level 4 Apprenticeship. You will: 

• Learn the fundamental skills you need to begin your career as a security professional.
• Tackle topics such as ‘ethical hacking' (penetration testing), cyber security fundamentals, threats and vulnerabilities.
• Gain invaluable experience by learning challenging theory and applying this straight on-the-job. 
• Be supported by experienced mentors and managers who will guide you through your apprenticeship.
• Develop the knowledge and skills required to be a cyber security specialist like incident response, risk management and digital forensics.

You qualify for this role if…
• You are able to start work in April 2017
• You are eligible to work in the UK
• You have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (including Maths and English Language) (or equivalent)

For some opportunities, it would be desirable if you have achieved the below:
• GCSEs or equivalent in STEM subjects 
• 2 A levels or equivalent in STEM subjects
