As the National Account Manager you will be responsible for managing and developing customer accounts in order to drive the business forward. The successful National Account Manager will report into the Commercial Manager and take responsibility for increasing sales and profit growth. The role is site-based with travel, both in the UK and abroad for customer/grower meetings.

Responsibilities of the National Account Manager:

- To develop and enhance a reputation for excellence with our customers, as measured against our competitors and industry peers.

- Implementation of the company’s strategic plan for specific customers. Develop short, medium and long term joint business plans with customers.

- Forecasting, pricing and promotion- ensuring a “right first time” culture exists and information is conveyed in an accurate & timely fashion.

- Communicating effectively with other internal departments to deliver the overall business strategy; (procurement, production, technical, insight).

- Sustaining and developing existing and new key relationships.

- In depth knowledge of the customer, consumer and market trends, alongside the current market place to ensure that the company is maximising sales and marketing opportunities.

- Establish strategies to deliver future profitable growth and grow existing markets. To pro-actively review end to end supply chain costs and identify areas for improvement.

- Drive and facilitate a culture of innovation throughout the team. Take a lead on innovation including new products, concepts, varieties and packaging formats.

- Responsible for delivering projected product sales, volume and profit growth.

- Manage the cost price analysis process and procedures.

- Development and evaluation of annual sales budgets and longer term financial plans.

- Monitoring targets & KPI’s in line with the balanced scorecard.  To include but not exclusively price errors, claims, shorts, DSL, NPD launches and sales tracking versus budget.

- Maintain an accurate awareness and working knowledge of stock levels.

The Person:

- Sharp commercial understanding combined with excellent negotiation, presentation and project management skills.

- Ability to thrive in a fast paced dynamic environment.

- Evidence of high self-motivation, driven, hard-working.

- Experience of the fresh produce industry and account management roles.

- Strong analytical skills and a calm methodical approach to problem resolution.

- Excellent personal and relationship management skills with the ability to communicate effectively to both internal and external customers, as well as an ability to influence.

- Ability to manage a range of tasks and to prioritise activities to meet business objectives.

- Good IT skills and competent with modern office IT systems.

- Full driving licence.
