AECOM is seeking an experienced flood risk management / 1D-2D hydraulic modelling specialist and project manager to join an established and dynamic water resources and community infrastructure team in Birmingham.

You will be working on diverse flood risk management and development projects that deliver sustainable benefits to communities and the environment through a wide range of public and private sector clients.

As the leading supplier of flood risk management services in the UK, you will integrate with a forward thinking and highly skilled individuals and have the responsibility of leading and shaping solutions for clients.

The role will require you to:

• Undertake Flood Risk Assessments and Flood Mitigation Design
• Perform as a technical lead for 1D-2D fluvial hydraulic modelling commissions;
• Undertake technical work including:
o hydrological / hydraulic modelling;
o quality assurance of technical work;
o identification, design and appraisal of flood risk management options;
o river engineering design; and
o report writing
• Undertake project and team management;
• Take a proactive approach to managing client relationships, clarifying expectations, success criteria and outcome measures in order to meet their requirements and deliver successful projects;
• Nurture, stretch and develop graduate team members and junior colleagues;
• Support wider business lines and develop and strengthen internal AECOM cross-sector relationships;
Assist with the strengthening and widening of our client base and the preparation of bids and proposals;

The role may also require you to assist and work on secondment placements such as the Environment Agency Water and Environmental Management (WEM) framework.

Minimum Requirements
The role will require the candidate to possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills / knowledge of:
SFRA's and FRA's
Technical expertise in 1D and 2D modelling (competent with industry standard software including ISIS / Flood Modeller, Estry and TUFLOW;
Technical expertise in GIS packages such as MapInfo;
It would be beneficial for applicants to have experience of undertaking hydrological assessments using FEH based methodologies and other techniques;
Knowledge and understanding of hydraulic behavior and channel / flood risk management structures and how to replicate these in modelling software;
Experience in quality assurance and reviewing hydrological / hydraulic models and recommending solutions for overcoming problems;
Experience of project and team management (ideally delivering and managing work through Environment Agency WEM Lot 1 and Lot 3);
Commercial awareness and the ability to manage and deliver projects to time and budget;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in environmental/earth sciences or civil engineering;
Chartered with appropriate institution;
A flexible and dynamic approach and mindset to respond to changing market requirements;
