Cover Supervisor

A secondary school in North Manchester are seeking a cover supervisor's to start ASAP.

Cover supervisors are utilised by schools to cover teacher's short-term absences including those arranged in advance such as medical appointments or training courses and also to cover unexpected absences such as sickness.

Your main job is to manage a classroom in the absence of a teacher, ensuring that students remain on task completing set work.

Roles and Responsibilities:

As a cover supervisor your role and responsibilities will include:

• Covering lessons in the absence of the usual class teacher
• Effectively communicating the work set to students
• Managing the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking set work
• Responding to any questions from pupils about process and procedures
• Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies in accordance with school policy and
• Collecting completed work after lesson and submitting to the appropriate teacher
• Reporting back as appropriate, using the school's standard procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising.

Skills:

You will need to demonstrate that you have:

• Experience of working with secondary aged students
• The ability to manage groups of children and cope with challenging behaviour.
• The ability to build a good rapport with both student and colleagues
• Good reading, writing and numeracy skills
• Excellent organisational skills
• A strong element of flexibility and patience
