We have a new exciting opportunity at Ashton Sixth Form College for A-Level Essay Writing Support Mentors to join the team based in Ashton-under-Lyne. The successful candidates will join us on a part time casual basis working 10-15 hours per week and will receive a competitive hourly rate of £15 per hour.

A-Level Essay Writing Support Mentor

(Approximately 10-15 hours per week Casual, hourly paid. There is likely to be work available from February –May, term-time only).

We anticipate appointing 2-3 people to this position, dependent upon the subject background, experience and available working hours of the successful candidates.

About the A-Level Essay Writing Support Mentor role

We are seeking to recruit well-qualified and highly-motivated mentors to work with AS and A level students in order to develop and improve the general and subject-specific essay-writing skills of humanities students. Students will be following a range of courses, including Politics, Sociology, Geography, RS, Law and English, amongst others.

What we’re looking for in our A-Level Essay Writing Support Mentor

You will:

- Be an excellent communicator who is capable of motivating others.

- Be pro-active in gaining an understanding of the assessment objectives of the qualifications you will be supporting students with.

- Have a good knowledge of the skills required for success in AS/A level essay-based subjects and the ability to develop these skills in students.

- Ideally have an in depth knowledge of at least one A level humanities subject.
