The Security Division operates within the commercial and constructions sectors, offering our clients solutions for intruder alarms, CCTV, door entry, access control and perimeter alarms.

 

Reporting in to the Security Systems Director, you will primarily be responsible for installing and maintaining systems for key commercial accounts in the north, predominantly in the area of the M62 corridor. However the nature of the role dictates that regional travel may be required to support the wider team as necessary.

 

Suitable candidates will be flexible and adaptable and will demonstrate broad-ranging skills and experience in operating within the Security Systems industry. You will have comprehensive up-to-date technical knowledge and competence in installing and maintaining CCTV, intruder, access control and fire alarms and systems, ideally within commercial environments.

 

Your outstanding communication skills will enable you to develop excellent relationships with our customers and will enable you to explain basic security systems use to non-industry individuals in a coherent and straightforward fashion. Suitable Engineers will have a clear understanding of Health & Safety and PPE legislation and will be pro-active in cascading best practice with the intention to prevent on-site accidents.

 

We will provide you with a company vehicle, work-wear and PPE and a palm-held device to assist you in carrying out your duties.

 

Primary duties & responsibilities, will include:

  • To install and maintain security systems, to include CCTV, Intruder, Access Control and Fire for commercial key accounts clients – Undertaking works in accordance with PPE and Health & Safety guidelines
  • Responding to reactive call-outs to customers' premises
  • Taking responsibility for your own Health & Safety, and those around you
  • To manage your own workload effectively, ensuring open and effective lines of communication with support / scheduling colleagues
  • Ensuring adequate planning to ensure that all jobs attended can be carried out with the minimum disruption and with a mind to completion in the shortest timescale possible
  • Accurate and timely completion of all paperwork (paper and electronic)
  • Forging and maintaining excellent customer relationships and portraying an exemplary corporate image at all times
  • Maintaining van stock records and client asset registers
  • Demonstrating consistently excellent time management skills, punctuality and flexibility to see jobs through to completion

 

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Relevant occupational Security Engineering qualifications such as a City & Guilds 1851 / 1852 / 1853, an NVQ Level 3 in Security Installations, or equivalent would be highly desirable
  • Up-to-date Health & Safety and PPE awareness
  • Candidates who possess GCSE English & Maths at grades C or above, or equivalent would be desirable but this is not essential

 

A full driving licence is required and you will also need to provide some hand tools in order to carry put the role, though access equipment will be provided.

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills, experience and behaviours:

  • Proven background as a Security Systems Engineer with comprehensive experience of working in a hands-on Engineer role is essentia
  • Qualifications in line with the City & Guilds certification as describe above
  • You will demonstrate excellent customer service skills and will have experience of delivering in a customer-facing role
  • A high degree of flexibility in working hours and types of jobs undertaken
  • Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on call rota and to work overtime as required
  • A methodical and systematic approach to your work; excellent attention to detail and technically competent
  • A robust and confident personality; highly motivated and quick to react; a natural problem solver
  • The ability to pre-plan for breakdowns and achieve the “first time fix”
  • Full driving licence

 

Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:00 but you could be expected to travel for up to one hour either side of you start / end time dependent upon the location of call outs. There is a requirement for all Engineers to be willing to be included onto an Out of Hours call out rota for which you will be compensated by retainer – typically one week in four but on occasion, this may be more frequent.
