This company manufactures and sell the latest generation of single molecule microscopes, capable of super-resolution imaging through localisation techniques. The company is well financed with the goal of delivering their advanced, yet bench-top instrument, to the academic and research community. Due to their unique capabilities, they expect to dramatically increase the uptake of single molecule techniques within a broader set of exciting biological applications.

Their team is a blend of single-molecule experts, mixed with commercial know-how and experience of successfully growing a business from inception to exit. They are looking to expand their team with motivated and capable individuals. Experience Required:
- PhD in relevant biological science
- Intimate knowledge of single molecule techniques ranging from the techniques themselves, sample preparation to data analysis.
- Experience of localisation based super-resolution microscope would also be advantageous.
- Commercial experience would be preferred but not required and they will accept candidates straight from PhD studies providing they possess the necessary technical knowledge.
- Candidates who have experience with optics, lasers and building microscopes, would also be advantageous although not required.

Package:
- £30 - £45k depending on experience
- 25 days' holiday
- Some flexibility on working hours
- 5% pension

Job Role:
As a small and dynamic business, they require flexible individuals who are confident and proactive in becoming involved with all aspects of the business. Personal motivation and work ethic are essential. Primary responsibilities of an Application Scientist are to support both commercial and technical development with the business. This role therefore is involved in many aspects of the business and therefore, an important lynchpin.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Operating the instrument at customer demonstrations (supported by commercial personnel who deal with sales aspect of a demonstration - The Application Scientist is not directly involved in sales)
- Leading collaborations with academic and commercial partners.
- Writing content for application notes, technical notes, scientific articles, website/marketing materials
- Delivering scientific presentations at conferences and customer demonstrations.
- Laboratory work to develop sample analysis and labelling protocols
- Product development feedback - translating customer requirements into software and hardware development priorities
- Through customer interactions understanding market and application dynamics.
