Job Title: Business Development Executive

Location: Worthing, West Sussex, BN11

Salary: £22 basic + car allowance. Commission is uncapped but OTE ca £26-30k

As our client continues to grow and evolve, the number of colleagues that they work with increases and they may be spread across a number of locations within buildings locally or across a wider geographic area.

The company are looking for a Business Development Executive to join their team.

Job Role:

To develop, implement and administer a Sales & Business development strategy for the company on a rolling basis, consistent with the group's reputation and prevailing strategies ensuring that the budgeted sales performance is achieved and that the quality and service delivered meets the Groups service standards.

The role is based in Worthing, West Sussex but you will on a regular basis be required to attend the Head office in Fareham, PO16. This role involves extensive travelling in the South of England and at times other locations in the UK dependant on the needs of the business

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate a calendar of Sales activity for the business, for approval by the Group Sales & Marketing Director (GSMD) upon Director's 'sign off' implement and maintain the activity plan on a rolling basis ensuring activity and results are monitored, action taken accordingly and that the content is regularly reviewed and updated according the needs of the business.
  • To ensure all of the respective products receive an appropriate level of Sales & Business Development activity on a regular and proportionate basis.
  • Analysing, researching and responding to sales enquiries received. Identify and create sales prospects keeping a steady 'pipeline' of future sales leads. Follow up any other targets and activity as directed by the GSMD.

Duties (to include, but not limited to)

  • Visit potential customers for new business, ensuring a comprehensive range of data is captured to fully understand the customer's needs market share/position and any relevant competitor activity. Record relevant information in the CRM database.
  • Identify new markets and business opportunities, discuss and agree plan of action with Sales & Marketing colleagues, to develop suitable products and marketing activity to generate leads. Negotiate the terms of potential sales/agreements within the parameters agreed with the GSMD
  • Develop a database of qualified leads from enquiries, outbound calling, sales calls/visits, email and networking.
  • Represent the company at trade and public shows, conferences and networking events.
  • Create and conduct effective sales proposal presentations relevant to the mix of customers and range of products to be sold.
  • Visit and maintain relationships with third party distributors and sales agents. Develop ideas and create products to open up new sales channels for Business to Business sales
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales and any follow up activity with established leads and contacts.
  • When targeting new business opportunities that will produce multiple movements and/or be considered 'low margin work' or require to be operated under a contract, the BDE will complete a Business case summary for the GSMD to agree the parameters for rates & terms to be negotiated.
  • Proactively establish and maintain effective working relationships with all sales support staff.
  • Maintain a close relationship with the Groups team of sales consultants analysing any opportunities arising from their activity, that has value in following up, to develop contacts or sales pipeline potential.
  • Work with the Group Marketing Executive to direct activity at specific markets / customer types reflected in the sales plan. Produce general marketing material to produce sales leads for follow up activity.
  • Set a weekly sales call plan by the Friday of the week preceding. To include new business activity, lead follow up, maintenance of on-going negotiations, administration and preparation and update / liaison with the office based sales staff.
