Bid Manager/Commercial Accountant (12-month Maternity Cover) - Livingston
This fast-growing SME is now the market leader in the application of remotely-operated aerial vehicles (drones). The Company provides services to clients around the world in sectors including Oil & Gas, Renewables, Utilities and Rail.
The Company is currently looking to expand across all of these sectors and is also focusing on new operations set up to target the US market.
The Role & Key Responsibilities
They are looking for an experienced finance or commercial person to support the CFO, Commercial Director and Sales Team to produce quotations and complete tenders for existing clients and new prospective customers. The Commercial Accountant will be flexible dependant on business priorities, supporting the CFO within the Finance function during periods where tenders and quotations are of lower priority. As a result, the role will involve:
- Working with Sales Managers and Directors to understand nature of projects
- Effective Pricing of projects to ensure each business sector achieves profitability, whilst remaining competitive
- Drafting quotations for approval by Sales Managers/Commercial Director/CFO
- Drafting narrative on technical requirements for project (some of this is standard but invariably requires job-specific elements)
- Leading project management and preparation of larger client tenders (from PQQ through to final tender bid).
- Working with core tendering / quotation team, whilst having the confidence to bring in subject matter experts when required
- Liaising with clients to understand tender process and requirements
- Working closely with the CFO to support the annual budget and regular forecasting process
- Supporting production of the Board Pack for the monthly Board Meetings, in addition to other ad-hoc reporting.
Skills & Experience
- Good commercial experience
- Previous experience of pricing and tenders would be desirable
- Excellent stakeholder management experience
- Good numerical and EXCEL skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Good communication skills - ability to draft accompanying narrative for quotes in clear manner
- Qualified/part-qualified/qualified by experience
Salary/Package
Salary will be commensurate with experience
