By building collaborative and sustainable partnerships with their customers and suppliers, based on trust and understanding, we ensure the delivery of a first class product and service for all high pressure fluid control requirements, from standard to bespoke. Our client is looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to take on the role of a Sales Engineer for the Engineered Systems product area in Altrincham, Cheshire.

General Responsibilities -

  • Receive incoming requests from customers, distributors or colleagues by phone, mail and email; take appropriate decision to have the request treated on time.
  • Managing and interpreting customer’s requirements and provide an accurate and detailed report (following external visits if required).
  • To prepare detailed technical quotations and costing to meet customer demand in line with scope, margin and lead time constraints.
  • Perform technical presentations and demonstrate how our products will meet the customer’s needs.
  • Follow up quotations with a courtesy call to ensure initial receipt and then schedule regular follow up calls and visits where required until the order is received.
  • Ensure take on margins meet the business expectations
  • Review neworders and provide sufficient technical & commercial data to ensure a smooth hand over of the order to the Engineering department.
  • Maintain a logical record system of correspondence, orders, quotations, pending customer enquiries using the appropriate sales tools.
  • Provide Commercial Manager and or Sales partners with accurate, up to date information regarding enquiry / quotation activity.
  • Interface with Logistics, Finance, Sales and Product Management and  Technical support departments
  • Work with sub suppliers to help prepare detailed and accurate / costing’s & quotes to cover customer requirements
  • Continually search for new customers that could benefit from the company’s products and services and maximise potential.
  • Key account management of long term customers.
  • Use every contact as an opportunity to increase knowledge, performance and orders.
  • Conform to rules, procedures and safe working practices in order to avoid Health & Safety or Environmental Incidents.

Qualifications/capabilities -

  • Be qualified to at least HNC / HND level in an engineering discipline.
  • Ideally have in depth knowledge of our client (or similar competitor), AZ & VFT products, standard and engineered systems. Training will be given.
  • Be able to understand and design Hydraulic/Pneumatic circuitry and develop such in order to prepare proposals to meet customer requirements.
  • Develop strong market and application knowledge for the area of operation.
  • Be a champion of customer service with strong commercial acumen.
  • Have the ability to communicate at all levels with technical staff of organisations in the markets we service such as oil & gas, petrochemical, defence, fluid power, gas companies etc.
  • A persuasive nature with the ability to sell solutions.
