Why did you decide to start a career in care?

I've always loved working with people. I take huge satisfaction from supporting people so that they can gain the skills and confidence they need to develop their own independence.

There's nothing better than supporting someone to live the life they want - whether that's completing a daily task, to cooking their own dinner for the first time or integrating within their community.

What's the most rewarding thing about your role?

Seeing the people I support develop their skills, confidence and independence. As their skills grow, I'm able to step back, allowing them to flourish without relying so heavily on my support.

What do you think it takes to be a great Support Worker?

Support work is so varied; it's challenging and rewarding but I think the rewards out weigh the challenges. You need to have the right attitude: if you're tenacious, compassionate, resilient, and want to spend every day
