The role is a full time, permanent position offering a competitive salary depending on experience plus pension and benefits.
The New Beacon Group aims to revitalise the Beaconside campus in Stafford to establish a ground-breaking digital innovation centre. The centre will be first of this kind to empower entrepreneurs and SMEs alike to engage on the innovation of digital technology and media and to reach a wider global market. A key feature of this centre will be to create a strong link with the Chinese consumer market and potential funding sources.
The centre will also use the state-of-art space and facilities which nurtured creative talent for half of century in Stafford to inspire and train students from the Midlands area, to encourage start up businesses and make a positive impact on the local area.
What are the responsibilities of the Head of Innovation Centre?
The successful candidate will play a key role in the creation and development of an international entrepreneurship and innovation centre.
The Head of Innovation Centre will need to demonstrate experience and understanding of current Digital Technologies. You must be an individual who has a genuine interest in emerging developments and is enthusiastic and excited by evolving technologies in the digital arena. The post holder will be a creative and inspirational thinker who can promote Digital Technology and content production, has experience of managing innovative projects, creating vision and has the ability to market the centre and position it as an international centre of excellence.
What skills do I need to have to become a Head of Innovation Centre?
- A self-starter and visionary with the ability to lead and develop the centre and attract future entrepreneurs placing the centre at the forefront of Innovation Technology.
- Commercially astute and able to demonstrate an ability (and/or previous experience) to market the centre internationally and have a good understanding of various governmental programmes to promote entrepreneurship and innovation.
- Good understanding of the start-up process for SME's and entrepreneurial businesses ideally around Digital Technologies.
- Effective communication skills including the ability to negotiate and network with external organisations and to write business proposals to prospective funders.
- Analytical and strategic ability to facilitate operational and procedural planning, budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds and create an inclusive space for all participants.
- Ability to lead and develop a team and take responsibility for their supervision, performance management and evaluation of activities within the centre.
- It is also essential that you have a good understanding of entrepreneurs' needs and inspirations and understand the Angel and Venture Capital industry.
