Our client is a highly successful tertiary college based in North Staffordshire and is an outstanding, innovative and highly responsive centre for education and training. Their £60m building opened in January 2010 and provides staff and students with some of the country's finest learning facilities. Their Sixth Form Centre has a reputation for high academic achievement and excellence. They provide a wide range of subjects up to A Level for their students.

They are looking for an enthusiastic individual, who holds an appropriate subject qualification to A level or equivalent along with suitable experience in a scientific technical background. They are also looking for someone with the desire to develop the enrichment of science within the College.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To undertake such duties as required of a Laboratory Technician in relation to the full range of processes and techniques associated with this role.
  • To develop the enrichment of the science programme within the College, alerting learners to new developments, creating opportunities across the scientific disciplines, setting up and running science clubs, engaging with higher education colleagues, both locally and nationally and raising the profile of Science within the College.
  • To liaise with the Assistant Head of Faculty and the wider team of maths and science staff in order to ensure that the enrichment activities support and complement the College maths and science curriculum.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Is qualified to at least A Level or equivalent and preferably is a recent graduate.
  • Has gained experience in a scientific technical background.
  • Able to communicate effectively with students and peers.
  • Has good organisational skills.
