College Estates Operative

Salary: £17,095 to £18,421 per annum inclusive of a 15% shift allowance

Hours of Work: Full time - shift work averaging 37 hours per week over a 10 week programme

Fareham College Estates Services are seeking an Estates Operative (Caretaker).

This role involves shift work across all Fareham College Group sites providing the highest standards of customer service in a general caretaking capacity to all College staff, students and visitors.

The role includes the following duties:

  • Opening, closing and maintenance of order throughout the day.
  • Janitorial cleaning inside and out.
  • Maintenance (DIY Skills).

You will need to have good all round DIY skills and be confident in the use of a range of tools and machinery including lifting and porterage equipment. Security experience is most desirable. However, a specific training package will be provided for certain areas.

You will need to have a flexible and proactive attitude to work, using your excellent customer service skills to deal with people of all ages.

This role rotates between the main campus at Bishopsfield Road, Fareham (BRC) and CEMAST at Lee on The Solent but also serves any other Outreach Site operated by The Fareham College Group.

It is a full time position averaging 37 hours per week over a 10 week cycle; the actual hours worked each week depend on the site and shift. The rota includes weekend working on a rotational basis.
