Pendennis Shipyard Limited is one of the world's leading custom superyacht builders, with a heritage spanning over 25 years. Our main activities are building, refurbishing and refitting custom superyachts from our main site located in Falmouth, Cornwall. Due to growth we are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer (Marine) to join our electrical team.
Job Description:
The position is ideally suited for an experienced & competent electrical design engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preliminary and production design packages for electrical installations on sailing and motor yachts (30 to 70m+). Working from (and aiding to generate) the requirements / specification for luxury super yachts in this highly complex industry.
Responsibilities:
Taking specifications and (with the aid of the electrical draughtsman) producing detailed designs for the electrical production team.
Creating wiring diagrams, cable schedules and associated bill of materials.
Performing electrical load analysis for vessels.
Assisting with generating detailed specifications for the whole electrical package onboard new builds and significant refits/restorations when required by Sales & Estimation team.
Working with suppliers to refine offerings and streamline the installation/commissioning on board.
Assisting with commissioning support for your designs and through life customer support.
The Candidate:
Ideally with Engineering degree or ONC/HNC in an electrical design related field.
Have a proven track record in a marine electrical design environment (Industrial or controls would be considered).
Possess a solid understanding of the requirements for electrical installations onboard ships/yachts including class requirements (or in industrial applications)
Advantageous to have experience with generator specification and commissioning, switchboard design, control panel design.
Effective oral and written communication with great team working skills.
Willing to support company objectives and travel when required.
