Developer - Risk/Data Science team
GBP30,000-GBP40,000 DOE + up to 10% Performance bonus & Benefits

Due to continued growth within our Risk and Trading function, we are looking to recruit a Developer to join our Oxford office. This role will develop and deploy in-house applications for use by the Risk & Trading Department, working as part of a team that ensures the changes are delivered to specification, to the required quality and timelines.

About the Role
The Risk and Trading Department develop pricing and forecasting models that require bespoke systems to perform complex calculations with very large data sets and provide results to user-friendly interfaces. This has prompted the creation of a specialist Data Science/IT technical team and an increasing need to develop solutions in house to the timescales determined by commercial development and Industry change.
The key accountabilities of the new role in this team are as follows:
- Collaborate with Analysts to turn models and processes into applications
- Develop and deploy application changes according to the requirements
- Monitor current applications
- Migrate current processes to new systems
- Investigate problems with newly developed and Legacy applications and deliver the fixes or workarounds
- Produce testing scripts
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- A minimum of 2 years IT development experience, whether in an academic or commercial context
- Educated to degree level in computer science, computer engineering or a numerate discipline
- Knowledge of a Scripting language such as Python, R, MATLAB, PowerShell
- Knowledge of a programming language is essential: SQL, C#, C++,.NET would be an advantage
- The confidence to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form to senior stakeholders within the business
