Algorithm Developer - Mathematical Programmer - Applied Scientist

We are seeking an exceptional and motivated team player with strong optimisation and analysis skills to join our team initially focusing on transportation network modelling and logistics. You will focus on building models that will be leveraged to drive the optimisation of the transportation infrastructure and evaluate opportunities to monitor real-world interventions with a focus on continuous improvement. You are an individual with outstanding analytical abilities, communication skills, and are comfortable working with technical teams and systems.

The successful Mathematical Programmer will need
* The ability to implement optimisation models and tools through the use of high level modelling languages (R, Matlab, etc)
* Experience with mathematical modelling and simulation and statistical analysis
* A working knowledge of linear and non-linear optimisation methods accompanied by expertise in the use of operational research tools

My client is part of a group of companies that invest in projects fostering social, environmental and economic prosperity. Their business is a mix of established companies and start-ups, with a strong and diverse portfolio of interests, including renewable energy, education, analytics and technology, private equity and property. Backed by venture capital with global ambitions, my client is growing its world-class team and building a totally immersive environment in which to develop its cutting edge tools.

You will have an opportunity to work on large mathematical problems, within the data science team. You will be responsible for researching, implementing, and analysing mathematical models and techniques for solving real-world logistics problems. Given capacity constraints and demand distributions you will use these models to assess and propose changes to transport networks across multiple modes.

This is a really exciting time to join the team. Currently in their R&D stage, the goal is to be at the cutting edge of research and you will be absolutely integral to success. You will help shape the journey in a non-hierarchical environment where you have the platform to directly impact direction, quality, success and perception in the market place.

You will be compensated with a very generous salary and onsite facilities that include an all-weather outdoor pitch for netball, football and tennis, a gym offering regular fitness classes, a pool table, a 2012 Olympic table tennis table and a caf?? serving delicious, local, and organic food - all free for employees!
