This School is one of the country's leading co-educational boarding and day schools, and enjoys a strong reputation for academic excellence supported by outstanding pastoral care.

They are seeking an exceptional Teacher of History to develop and inspire pupils, and who is able to participate in and contribute to the life of the School as a whole. In return the School is committed to helping you develop further as a teacher by giving you access to its generous professional development budget.

Generally, the role of a full time History teacher involves 66% teaching, 17% tutoring and 17% extra-curricular activities. It would be desirable, but not essential, for this person to take on tutoring and extra-curricular activities.

History at this school is taught by a team of eight full-time subject specialists, each with their own particular historical interests, ranging from medieval (English and European) to early and late-modern History (English, European and American). All staff teach across the age range from the Third Form (Year 9) to the Upper Sixth (Year 13), with some teaching the First and Second Forms (Years 7 and 8). Staff enjoy considerable freedom to teach what they want to each year group within and beyond the different syllabuses, especially in the Third and Sixth Forms. The History Department is dynamic and wholeheartedly committed to their discipline, and the subject is popular in the School.

The school is located in Brent and is located in a historic market town and is famous for its beautiful streets and impressive limestone buildings. The town has a spirited cultural life, with an annual international festival, literature festival, and frequent performances of nationally touring shows at the School's theatre. The town has a range of independent shops, coffee houses, pubs and eateries. The town is also blessed to be surrounded by beautiful countryside with many picturesque villages nearby.
