Health & Safety Coordinator - 2 days per week - Walthamstow - Perm or Contract - GBP23,000 pro rata

A client of mine is currently recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety coordinator in Walthamstow, London. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading manufacturing company. It is desirable that the selected candidate comes from a manufacturing background and has experience within a Health & Safety role. The successful candidate must monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure responsibilities and duties associated with all aspects of Health and Safety are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all machinery and operations;
Ensure that safe operating procedures are in place for the sites activities;
Ensure that all health and safety policies, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated;
Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained;
Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to Health and Safety including statutory training and reporting;
Ensure that all near misses and accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented;
Ensure that safety audits are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly carried out and reported;
Establish a full programme of documented health and safety inspections, audits and checks are available;
Develop and implement a structured programme of health and safety training throughout the Company;
Liaise with external parties in the provision of training programmes and health and safety services;
Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant Health and Safety at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business;
Liaise with external parties i.e. suppliers, Insurers etc;
Ensure the working environment and working procedures are safe and risk controlled is appropriately adopted;
Provide support, training and advice on policies, procedures and processes relating to Health & Safety;
Standardisation (where applicable) of health and safety processes, procedures and reporting methods across the business;
Carry out health and safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, method statements and incident investigation on a prescribed frequency or as and when determined;
Ensure the business meets its compliance obligations with the various statutory legislation;
Provide reports where required for review to senior management;
Work effectively with Directors and Managers to ensure a consistent approach to health, safety, regulations are being met.

Skills & experience required:

Formal recognised Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH, NEBOSH, IIRSM) or equivalent experience;
In depth knowledge of Health & Safety in an industrial environment;
Experience in developing and implementing Health & Safety programmes that are commercially viable;
Hands on approach to Health & Safety;
Articulate, verbally and writing;
