Hydraulic modeller - permanent - Peterborough
Mott MacDonald has a successful partnership with contractor JN Bentley, and has been delivering numerous water and wastewater projects over a number of years as Mott MacDonald Bentley. Due to successful growth and strong long-term demand we have an opportunity for a senior hydraulic modeller with water/wastewater industry experience to join us in Peterborough and help support our work with Alliance. You will be directly involved in water, wastewater and drainage studies, from feasibility to detailed design stages, and Deliver optimal solutions using mathematical models using one or more of the following disciplines Urban Drainage, Clean Water, CFD, Surge or Odour Dispersion Modelling. The role will require you to operate with a high degree of autonomy and self-reliance, providing technical guidance and support to our client.
Through your technical expertise you will help to build validate & use mathematical models to enable development of opportunities & solutions, with focus on time, budget, implementing collaborative principles, innovation & project benefits.
You must be able to demonstrate the following;
* Qualified to degree level, and ideally Chartered or working towards Chartership or equivalent professional qualification
* Experience of water/wastewater modelling
* Innovative thinker
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to put ideas across in a logical and coherent fashion in both oral presentations and written reports, and to explain modelling issues and techniques to non-modelling professionals
In addition, you will need to demonstrate strong knowledge of the following:
* InfoWorks CS
* GIS software (preferably MapInfo)
* Model reviewing and checking
* Model build, verification and solution development
* Manhole, CCTV and flow surveys
* Flooding alleviation, CSO and water quality schemes
* Sewer rehabilitation
* SUDS
