JOB TITLE: Transport Manager
SALARY: GBP40,000 - GBP60,000 per year, dependent on experience
WORKING HOURS: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
THE COMPANY: Our client established in 1995 and based in Carlisle, are a local independent skip hire company that operates within the recycling industry. The company is growing organically year on year and they are currently looking to recruit a forward thinking Transport Manager to join their successful Senior Management team.
THE ROLE: This is an exciting role for a business minded Transport Manager join a successful and growing company and to be part of their ongoing and continued success.
The role is office based and involves day to day cost effective planning of the fleet as well as the skills to manage tachograph and working time directive monitoring, CPC training and development of customer relationships. You will be directly responsible for management of a transport planner, a team of 20 HGV Drivers and will have full control of the transport function.
This high profile position will be expected to work closely with all departments to drive the company forward and report directly to the Board.

- Ensuring that legal requirements and compliance with traffic commission is met
- Managing health and safety, and ensuring that company policies and procedures are followed
- Running the fleet; maximising vehicle availability and line managing the staff
- Setting and evaluating KPI's targets
- Encouraging continuous development of all staff members
- Reviewing the effectiveness of the service and setting commercial goals
THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Transport Manager position must have a proven track record in transport planning and demonstrate the ability to function in a high pressure environment. - Previous transport/fleet management experience
- CPC operator's licence
