Job Description:
Our Client is the UK's leading waste-to-energy biodiesel producer with operations in Scotland and North West England and has always been privately owned. Their main plant, near Motherwell in Scotland, started production in 2005. Following significant investment to facilitate growth and development, a number of facilities are being built in the Stanlow area. The Company specialises in the production and supply of high grade, sustainable diesel made from waste fats and oils deliberately excluding any raw materials that could also be used for food or feed.
They are currently looking to recruit for a HR Assistant to provide on-site HR assistance to Managers and employees advising on a variety of employee relations issues, as well as involvement in recruitment, reporting and on-boarding activities.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- To assist managers and employees in understanding and implementing Company policies and procedures
- Be the first point of contact for on-site HR queries from employees and managers, providing sound HR advice and escalating to the HR Specialists as and when necessary
- To assist in recruitment activities, including managing applications, shortlisting, co-ordinating and scheduling interview timetable and supporting Managers in interviews as required
- On-boarding of new employees on-site, including sending out contracts of employment and offer letters, liaising with Managers to organise detailed induction plans, answering employee queries and sending out welcome letters highlighting first day itineraries.
- Liaising with Managers to schedule probationary review meetings, and provide advice on end of probationary procedures.
- Assist with the appraisal process, logging appraisal information and documentation including training and development needs
- Assist with payroll preparation by providing relevant data (eg, new starters, salary/personnel changes, leavers etc) and maintaining accurate employee records
- To maintain the HR database, ensuring all information is up to date and accurate. Produce any HR reports as and when requested.
- Record and monitor absence in line with the absence policy and procedure, ensuring self-certification and return to work process is followed, as well as supporting Managers with the procedure where required.
- Support Managers in disciplinary and grievance procedures, providing clear advice on policy and attending hearings as necessary
- Organising training courses as and when required
- To provide clerical and administrative support to the wider HR Team.

Qualifications/ Knowledge & Experience
Qualifications
- CIPD qualified, or working towards a recognised CIPD HR qualification
Specific Knowledge, Experience & Skills
- Demonstrable experience as an HR Assistant or HR Administrator in a fast paced, changing environment
- Excellent IT and administrative skills being PC literate with strong Excel and Word skills
- Hands-on experience with an in-house HR System
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and comfortable working alone and unsupervised, with a positive 'can-do' attitude
