We are seeking a commercially astute business manager who will focus on everything in order to run a business effectively and grow sales and profit. You should be willing to show true leadership and have excellent business awareness, acumen and integrity. You will be organised, numerate and enjoy developing strong relationships with customers, suppliers and employees. This role is an exciting opportunity brought about retirement.

Are you commercially minded and passionate about trading, customer service, logistics, the a company's products and packaging? Possessing drive you will motivate a team of internal sales and operational support personnel as well as independent agents. With your ability to focus on all aspects of the business you will be naturally entrepreneurial with a firm grip on the operational aspect of running a business end to end.

You must have had previous P&L management and experience in controlling the 'day to day' running of a business or major division within a larger organisation. Ultimately you will ensure that KPI's are met, costs are kept low, sustainable profitable business growth is driven and that both you and your team deliver the profit plan expected.

We are open to the industry sector but would prefer it if you have sold a commodity previously. However, you must have sold tangible goods and not services please. Our product is a well-known brand in its sector and we are in a fast paced FMCG high volume and lean margin industry, which means your approach to our wholesalers and retail customers must be the right 'trade' style approach. We operate in the catering, cash & carry and retail discount sectors turning over nearly GBP7 million in categories including refuse sacks, cling film and foil, foil containers, catering disposables and plastics. This means your business acumen and analytical skills need to be top notch with focused goals, accurate budgeting and operational efficiencies measuring their successes.

What's the market doing? What are your competitors pricing at? What are the implications behind a new pricing matrix or bringing in a new line? Do you have the stock in place? Are you maximising margin? What's the forecast? Can you sell more to drive transport costs down? You know these are the daily questions you will be asking to gather information to ensure you are making solid business decisions. By knowing your market place well you will capitalising on opportunity and servicing the demands of our customers to an excellent standard.

We need you to be a good listener, a person who understands the needs of the customers and their employees. You will achieve greater success if you inject your positive attitude to your team. In other words, we feel a good business manager should be willing to work along side his or her employees in order to lead from the front. Therefore, you will manage our top accounts to maximum profitability and enjoy being a proactive seller yourself. In return we offer support and expertise from the parent company, a solid and historic customer base (that needs growth) and a focused and dedicated team. The salary on offer is GBP60-70k basic with the opportunity to earn an annual bonus. Other benefits include company car, pension, and PMI.

You need to be flexible and able to juggle the many requirements of this role well, as although we need you to be visible to the team, you will also need to be visible to our customers, located around the South, M25 and London.
