Your new company
This client is a public-private partnership with a mission to accelerate the deployment of low carbon technology in the UK. For some technologies this has meant developing the technology itself but in others the required steps are more about demonstration and market development.
The company is progressing a clean gas project that seeks to explore what it would take to build a new (gas-fired) power plant with CCS from the outset. The first phase will be the project concept stage involving Financial Modelling, Business Model Testing, Optioneering and Stakeholder Engagement/Marketing. Success in the first phase will be the launch of phase two, during which potential investors in the power station fund consenting, engineering and financial work to take the project to Financial Close.
Your new role
They are seeking a Business Developer / Project Developer for a 12 month contract to help manage and coordinate phase one of the project and to define work priorities and allocate work across the virtual team.
To work with the team and project lead to ensure alignment with goals and strategy (ensure rigor whilst maintaining/building relationships) and to do what's needed to get the project concept developed and secure engagement from stakeholders.
What you'll need to succeed
Educated with a business or relevant engineering degree discipline with experience of project management with small, flexible teams.
An ideal background would be someone who has worked within a Power Development team with exposure to UK power regulations.
Other considered backgrounds would be the electricity generation sector with a knowledge of CFD's or EMD's.
You will need to have a 'Can do' attitude and be prepared to undertake a wide range of activities without close supervision and be credible and presentable to 3rd parties.
You will be responsible for the project development and keeping the project moving forward so strong interpersonal skills to deal with different stakeholders involved in the mechanics of the project is essential.
