Screening Technician I, Leeds

Covance, a leading global drug development services company, is looking for a Screening Technician I for our Global Clinical Pharmacology team in our Leeds Phase I Clinic. The successful candidate will join us on a full time, permanent basis.

As our Screening Technician I you will perform tasks associated with screening to determine eligibility of volunteers for participation in clinical studies.

Responsibilities of our Screening Technician I include:

- Read protocols in order to assist with screening procedures necessary to determine participant qualification as well as to understand the Inclusion and Exclusion criteria for the study.

- Work with Project/Study Manager and Screening/Recruitment Supervisor to arrange any special screening procedures that may be necessary for the study.

- Provide assistance to ensure that screening workbooks and schedules are accurate to help determine eligibility of study participants.

- Prepare and organize all necessary materials for participant screening and physical exams including, medical history packets, Informed Consent Form, Screening Checklists and any other necessary documents and/or forms required for the study.

- Obtain informed consent and medical history from screening volunteers.

- Accurately perform venipuncture, blood pressure, pulse, weights, respiratory rate and temperature readings.

- Preparation and accurate recording of vital signs, electrocardiograms, holter monitors, spirometry and other simple laboratory procedures as needed and required per the study protocol.

- Collection and processing of biological samples as specified in the protocol and ensure the proper distribution of those samples.

- Accurately record all research data obtained or observed.

- Maintain a clean, safe and efficient working and study environment.

- Foster respectful relationships with study participants.

- Maintains constant awareness of participant safety and dignity at all times.

- Ensures that client and participant confidentiality is maintained.

- Responds to queries in a timely manner.

- Takes ownership for the quality and standard of own work.

- Maintain the status of study subjects in the database.

- Support the team with covering Screening Reception, which also includes the payment of volunteers in attendance.

- Other duties as assigned

Our ideal Screening Technician I will have the below skills and experience:

- Educated to GCSE Standard or equivalent however 1-2 years research experience may be substituted for education requirements
