Due to the expansion and restructuring of a market leader in the outdoor furniture industry, an opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Design Technician to join our Client's close-knit CAD team.
The role will be very much hands-on, and the ideal candidate will show an aptitude to problem solving and working things out, with a positive and friendly attitude.
The primary responsibility will be to organise, arrange and ensure timely production is achieved through:
- Identifying sales orders that require components and materials to be ordered in, liaising with suppliers, processing the orders and ensuring delivery to meet production.
- Drawing components for fabrication to be outsourced, for manufacture in their workshop and for their installation teams and contractors where necessary using AutoCAD and Inventor.
- Creating CNC programs for their two machines, monitoring the output for constant development and improvement.
- Assisting in the workshop with prototyping on occasion. Also attending site for large-scale, new jobs as required to ensure smooth installation.
- Reviewing and updating manufacturing drawings for new and existing drawings.
- Maintaining a record of costings and creation of codes and BOMs in their finance system, co-ordination with our administration and logistics team, following manufacture procedures.
The candidate should have experience using the following software:
- AutoCAD
- Autodesk Inventor or similar
- Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent in Engineering and Design, and have a good understanding of all kinds of materials and fabrication techniques including wood and metal. They must possess excellent communication skills, be hard working, professional and able to work well under pressure. High levels of accuracy and attention to detail are required.
Our Client is a growing company and the role would be well suited to a self-motivated individual who is keen to progress and learn new skills, with a flexible attitude. Knowledge of CNC programming and Microsoft Navision would be beneficial but is not essential as full training will be given.
