INTERIM CATEGORY MANAGER - CORPORATE SERVICES
WEST MIDLANDS - 3-6 MONTHS INITIALLY
ROLE REMIT:
We are partnering a large Local Government organisation in Birmingham, West Midlands who are looking to recruit for an experienced 'generalist' indirect procurement professional to support on a number of concurrent projects, including Facilities/Estates, Construction, ICT and Professional Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
?? Develop and manage a category sourcing programme that delivers savings and efficiencies within its overall category management strategy
?? Lead and participate in high-value procurement projects, deploying category expertise and commercial acumen.
?? Develop and implement strategies to manage procurement risk, integrate council policies into procurement practice, and measure and analyse spend and savings data.
?? Manage and supervise a team of category specialists and quality assurance officers to meet the objectives of a category plan and contract performance monitoring regime
?? Manage strategic contract relationships with suppliers that promote development of individual suppliers and markets to ensure the council receives best value for money and continuous improvement over the life of contracts.
?? Manage relationships with internal stakeholders (i.e. Commissioners) advising on high-level procurement and contract management best practice
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
?? Significant procurement experience gained within the Public Sector
?? Indirect procurement experience
?? Demonstrable experience developing and delivering Category Plans (i.e. as a Category Manager or Specialist)
?? Experience managing Commissioners and similar social service stakeholder groups
?? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
?? MCIPS or equivalent professional experience
