Our client has an amazing new opportunity for an Engineering Services Group Manager who can manage the existing Engineering Services Group of an award winning company. You will be working in an award winning company utilising your Computer Hardware Engineering, Testing and Certification experiences, sills, knowledge and background. You will be reporting to a Technical Managing Director and will be leading a multi-disciplinary technical team of 12 staff.

The position is based at our client's head office close to the South Coast in Hampshire. This is a full time position.

Our client has very ambitious and aggressive growth plans to meet their milestone for an IPO in the near future. As detailed above this role could lead to career progression based on success and delivering results to plan, as the company expands further.

You will have direct management responsibility for the Engineering Services Group functions - Design and Innovation (Mechanical, Electro Mechanical and Electronic), Project Management, Verification and Validation and compliance, NPI (New Product Introduction) and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management).

You will be responsible for the management, work planning, scheduling and review of work, as appropriate to deliver engineering function specific outputs and defined milestones to business stakeholders.

You will have active participation with key business stakeholders on defining and driving the company's product, design and innovation roadmap.

You will define, set, monitor and control the Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for the department.

You will participate in the setting of department budget and managing to budget with monthly / quarterly and annual reviews.

You will provide effective leadership for the maintenance of appropriate levels of discipline, monitored controls and correction to maintain consistency to our client's brand values, culture and work schedule.

You will regularly review the management of the Skills Matrix mix required to ensure the department has the appropriate and proportionate skills and capabilities, required to deliver business objectives.

You will be responsible for the management of skills gaps through recruitment, training and performance management for the retention of appropriate talent in keeping with our client's culture and the skills required by the department.

You will act as a mentor to staff providing constructive feedback and coaching.

You must have worked to a high work rate and will be discontented merely maintaining the status quo. You must always be looking for new and better ways of doing things. Mobility and alertness will be required with a clearly goal-directed restlessness.

Key Job Responsibilities will include Engineering Services Group Management - Projects, Products and Process Management - Design Authority / Technical Lead - Compliance, Verification and Validation - Reporting, Analysis and Risk Management - Business Development Support - General departmental and company responsibilities.

Knowledge and Skills:

You will need to have had a career progression spanning a technical specialist role in ideally an electro-mechanical engineering discipline, or with a bias on mechanical or electronics.

You must have a proven experience managing the whole spectrum of product development and realisation including project management, design, Verification and Validation, certification where appropriate, and orderly product handover into manufacturing, followed by lifecycle management.

You must have strong project management capabilities and the ability to implement appropriate remedial measures, as and when appropriate are required. With a robust character, willing and eager to take on technical challenges and work within set time and budget constraints.

You will be an effective communicator able to establish and cultivate good relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders. A thorough, disciplined and detailed style of working will be necessary with a logical and detailed analysis of requirements and process. A detailed approach towards project management and on-time/on-budget milestones delivery is an important requirement for satisfactory performance.

You must have a strong management leadership background and track record.

You must have a proven experience in managing Multi-Disciplinary Technical teams, mechanical, electro/mechanical, electronics, computer configuration/integration.

You must have experience with budget setting and as a budget holder with responsibility for managing an assigned budget.

You must have experience with understanding and managing product Verification and Validation with compliance and certification as required to international standards. For example, CE, FCC, 60945, DNV-2.4, MIL-STD-810 etc.

You must have customer/market facing, consultative/solution orientated technical experience in an industrial B2B market sector. With a good degree of engineering, computing electronics, or technology related subject expertise.

You must have proven experience in leading and project managing innovation, both NPD and NPI.

You must have experience in setting up, maintaining and working in a professional and structured methodology aligned to ISO: 9001 standard.

You must be commercially astute with a sound understanding of business processes and an abundance of common sense.

You must have effective people management skills with proven experience of managing multi-disciplinary technical roles and teams.

You must have excellent organisational skills in areas of project management, time management and work prioritisation.

You must have competent communication and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to actively and effectively communicate and engage internal and external stakeholder's at all organisational levels.

You must have excellent problem solving skills, utilising data/statistical and analytical methods to resolve engineering issues and improvements.

You must be a confident presenter of information to small or large audiences, able to communicate and deliver a persuasive customer context relevant technical value proposition specific to the individual needs of each customer.

You must have a thorough understanding of IT/computing technologies.

You must be knowledgeable and a competent user of current day office automation packages.

You must have a minimum of formal technical/engineering qualification, preferably a degree in an Engineering Discipline or related variant.

You must have a strong knowledge of Process and Project Management, as well as evidence of continuous on-going self-development and education.

You must be technically well updated and connected to current electronic/computing technologies.

You must have a full and clean driving licence.
