Job Title: North American Healthcare Liability Underwriter
Contract - Permanent
Salary - GBP50,000 - GBP80,000

Role Overview:
To take over the management of a North American healthcare regulatory risk, portfolio which comprises of both direct and reinsurance business.
Utilising the current portfolio as a base, the candidate will be charged with growing the current account in accordance with a mutually agreed business plan and establishing an Allied healthcare product to compliment the current company solutions
Key responsibilities:
- Facilitation and underwriting of current portfolio
- Working with Chief Underwriting Officer to establish a new Allied healthcare facility within the Lloyd's market
- Utilisation of existing relationships and new business development
- Managing budgets and reporting statistics
- Development of insurance products to include:
o Rating
o Underwriting parameters
o Wordings
o New product development
o Working with IT to facilitate online offerings
- Managing loss ratios and risk selection
- General portfolio management responsibilities
- Business Planning
Staffing and Management:
No initial staff responsibilities, however, budgets and support will be allocated with the prior agreement of both parties. There will be mid term opportunities (business plan dependent) to add to the head count of the division.
Context:
- Office based underwriting
- Meetings with Brokers, Lloyd's Underwriters and Agents
- Travel where deemed necessary. Including North America, and relevant conferences
- Distribution of work to junior underwriters
Skills and competences:
- 5+ years insurance experience with US healthcare or miscellaneous markets
- Interpersonal skills - ability to build successful, mutually beneficial relationships
- Communication skills - face to face, telephone and in writing/email.
- Planning - organisation and time management
- Problem solving
- Computer literacy and team working abilities
Qualifications:
- GSCE Mathematics and English grade C and above
- A-Level standard grade A-C
- Relevant insurance experience
Technical experience:
- Previous underwriting/broking experience with North America
- Experience which would bring a strong advantage to the role
- Professional services markets, Healthcare, PIAA Companies, claims made insurance classes, reinsurance, North American, Binders, Lloyd's.
Key Relationships:
- Existing relationships within the London Market and International Producers
