Role: Manager - Test Operations (Engine) - Automotive OEM
Location: North West, UK
Salary: GBP55,000 to GBP62,000 (dependent on proven ability) + bonus (15%) + car + bens

Leading automotive OEM is seeking a proven man Manager for their Test Operations (Engine) facility.

My client is seeking a proven man-manager. You will have proven experience managing technicians and engineers, ideally in an Engine / Powertrain Test Operations environment. However this is not a must have. A broad understanding of mechanical engineering test would also be of interest. This may even come from outside of the automotive sector.

Primary importance is your ability to manage a team of skilled technicians & engineers; identifying and developing skills where necessary, to cope with an ever-changing engine test operation.
You will play an important role working towards development programmes of an important engine both locally and within group. You will also be able to drive some of world's most exclusive and powerful vehicles.

Main responsibilities:
* Manage and lead a team to deliver technical solution in their field of expertise, to the defined Product Emergence Process
* Establish and develop effective team strategy
* Management of a team and prioritisation of tasks.
* Accountable for developing own and team's specialist technical and business knowledge/capability.
* Technical. Propose departmental strategy for facilities, infrastructure and resources for approval by the Head of Department.

Skills & Experience
* Demonstrable experience as People Manager/has strong leadership skills, working within the Automotive industry.
* Demonstrable experience of Automotive Product Development in relevant area.
* Good business awareness and ability to make, and influence decisions within business context
* Ability to monitor and plan both project and people KPI's.
* Excellent time management and organisational skills (self and team).
* Understanding and ability to demonstrate behaviours in line with the Bentley People Framework.

Practical & Technical Knowledge
* Detailed technical knowledge of current Engine technology and future trends
* Exposure to and use of state of the art test methods and processes
* Detailed knowledge of current and future legislative requirements
* Automotive product development
* Leadership, effective communication, influencing skills
* Project and budget management/forecasting skills
* Demonstrable knowledge and application of Company problem solving tools and skills
* Ability to manage time and priorities for self and team
* Ability to travel internationally and work flexibly as required
