Job Title: Head of Operations

Location: Fulwood, Preston, PR2

Our client is one of the UK's leading designers, manufacturers and distributors of a wide range of interior textile products including fabrics, curtains, cushions, bedlinen and wallpaper to both retail and commercial customers. Established for over 25 years, they have offices in the UK and Asia and supply to over 40 countries worldwide. Customers include interior designers, department stores, independent retailers, furnishing specialists, overseas distributors, hotel groups and other commercial environments.

The Head of Operations will oversee the Leadership, management and accountability for all operational functions including purchasing, quality, warehouse, merchandising and customer services.

Key Responsibilities:

- Efficient and effective fulfilment of customer order book
- Delivery of new product collections in all business areas
- Inventory management
- Delivery of exceptional customer service
- Resource management
- Logistics
- Contribute to board level strategy and tactics
- Make sure the operations team has the correct structure and appropriate number of FTE to deliver the customer / business requirements.
- 7 direct reports and 50 indirect reports across 2 sites
- Own the business activity planner document. Use it to organise appropriately.
- Hold the operations team accountable for achievement of goals and targets
- Day to day advice, support and coaching for all members of the operational management team and their staff.
- Assist the operational team with prioritising activity.
- Consistently acknowledge great achievement. Be the champion of success.
- Coach the team. Make sure the customer is always at the heart of every decision made.
- Retain and grow talent
- Monthly 1 to 1's or similar with all of the operational management team
- Bi-Annual appraisals & development plans for all of the operational management team

Efficient and effective fulfilment of customer orderbook:

- Ensure customer service are facilitating accurate customer order entry and conversion
- Customer service are meeting every customer need and acting on every correspondence
- EDI order fulfilment processes are fully functional
- Stocked items, sample items & bespoke items are delivered in line with their own appropriate leadtimes
- On time in full order despatch through both Preston and Hyde warehouses
- On time in full order despatch of bespoke items through third party manufacturers
- On time in full delivery through management of third party transport companies

Delivery of new product collections in all business areas:

- Critical path accountability from new product selection through to customer availability
- Responsibility for purchasing of all new stock items in line with forecasts / orders

Inventory Management:

- Responsibility to ensure purchasing of all stocks delivers appropriate availability and customer service level targets
- Obsolescence is identified and tackled perpetually
- Product / packaging reworks actioned timely and efficiently

Delivery of exceptional customer service:

- Meet all agreed targets
- Ensure the customer service team are at the centre of all business activities
- Working with the sales teams to ensure customer service activity aligns with sales
- Occasional customer visits to discuss service and understand more about their needs

Resource Management

- Translate the business financial plans into operational requirements by department
- Ensure effective performance management of operational management team and support their own performance management of their respective teams

Logistics

- All inbound freight costs, processes, suppliers and options
- All receipt activity, stock integrity, container scheduling and optimisation
- All production and order picking priorities and processes
