My client who is based in Taunton are looking for a Health & Safety representative to join them on a permanent basis. Ideally they would like somebody to do 20 hours per week but my be able to consider full time hours for the right candidate. Essential Duties and responsibilities To act as the Health & Safety representative for the site, developing and maintaining effective Health & Safety policies and procedures. To conduct all Health & Safety risk assessments and ensure the company is compliant to legislation. To undertake training where appropriate Implement safe systems of work ensuring compliance to legislation. Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazardsDrive change, adopt new ideas and challenge current safety procedures, implementing best practice at the siteUndertake and review risk assessments in all areas of the business, including COSHHUndertake H&S audits on a monthly basisInvestigate and compile reports on all accidents and near miss ensuring appropriate remedial action is takenCompile statistics on accidents and near miss, monitor and trend and advise on appropriate methods of improvementCoordinate and manage monthly H&S Committee meetingsPrepare monthly H&S reports highlighting key activities, accomplishments and ongoing projectsPrepare monthly tool box talks for staffEnsure the site has the right number of trained personnel in fire and first aid, source relevant training and ensure certificates are up to dateWork with Managers and Supervisors to ensure a positive H&S culture on siteKeep abreast of Health & Safety legislation, compliance and reporting requirements, including COSHH Job Qualifications Education: NEBOSH / IOSH qualification or equivalent Experience: Appropriate experience and proven aptitude in health and safety - EssentialExperience of working in a manufacturing environment - Essential Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications: Computer literate with working knowledge of computer applications / Microsoft OfficeHigh standard of written and spoken communication skillsAbility to write concise reportsNegotiating skills and ability to encourage others of the need to implement and maintain safety standardsAbility to show initiative, recognise emerging problems and pro-actively develop solutionsAn investigative mind and attention to detailAn interest in Health & Safety legislation and the ability to understand regulations If you would like to be considered for this role then please send your cv to me today.
