Job Title: Technical WriterLocation: ClevedonSalary: ??26,000 - ??31,000 per annumDuration: PermanentSector: Engineering/ManufacturingAll applications to: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Writer to join a leading manufacturing company based in Clevedon, North Somerset.The successful candidate will:- Produce and maintain technical support documentation to quality standards and house style- Help further develop the processes and styles of the documentation- Work closely with team members and project subject matter experts- Produce the highest quality documentation to ensure that up-to-date documentation is available to company service personnel and staff world-wide in printed and electronic format- Support all phases of the core documentation process: information gathering and planning; content specification; content development and implementation; production; and evaluation- Convey technical ideas, concepts and procedures in clear, concise and accurate English- Manipulate text and images to create well structured documentation that is easily absorbed by the target user- Gather information by studying existing technical content, interviewing subject matter experts and interacting with the product itself- Carry out editorial reviewing of work produced by peersAn ideal Technical Writer will hold the following skills and experiences:- Strong technical writing experience in an engineering environment- Production of test and/or service related documentation in a related or similar engineering field- Familiarity with manufacturing delivery environments and associated processes and terminology- Use of Microsoft SharePoint- Previous experience of writing in an XML application- Familiarity with extracting images Catia models- Illustration/graphic design/digital photography and photo editing, and the use of software such as Corel Draw/PhotoPaint and Adobe FireworksPerson Specification:- Qualified to degree or HNC/HND level in mechanical or electromechanical engineering- Accuracy and attention to detail- Ability to work to deadlines and using own initiative- Excellent people skills - influence others, work in a team, foster collaboration and facilitate meetings and other activities- Good IT skills- Especially competent with software running on the Microsoft Windows operating system
