Job Title: Space Planner / CAD Technician

Location: Sevenoaks, Kent

Salary: Competitive dependent on experience

Hours: 9:00am - 17:30pm

A leading, progressive Design and Build company based in Sevenoaks Kent, is looking to recruit a Space Planner / Technical Designer. This is a great opportunity for a qualified interiors architect who is looking to work within a fast-paced team environment. The key requirement of this role is to support project leaders in their space planning and CAD drawing requirements. You will need a strong portfolio of work that showcases your experience and abilities.

The Role:

An energetic, passionate and dedicated Space Planner / CAD Technician is required to complement a team of highly experienced, dynamic professionals. With a developed understanding of client requirements and knowledge of commercial workplace projects, you will support the Design team in translating client requirements from conceptual design to drawings, and drawing packages, and provide technical support to project leaders and project teams.

Required Skills:

A minimum of 4 years' experience within an architectural role, RIBA qualified, with strong technical skills and demonstrable attention to detail. You will demonstrate a good understanding of design and construction processes, and have the ability to problem solve and provide technical solutions, along with a keen sense for technical accuracy and attention to detail. You will be a confident communicator with good commercial awareness. Experience on commercial projects is a prerequisite as is knowledge of current UK building regulations. You'll be self-motivated, able to work on your own or as part of a team, and be familiar with working to tight deadlines.

  • High level of design and technical coordination;
  • Competent in producing a range of detailed AutoCAD drawing packages;
  • Meticulous attention to detail in preparing drawings and specifications;
  • Able to manage and coordinate drawing files;
  • Confident knowledge of codes and building regulations;
  • Ability to integrate design concepts to construction site.

Technical ability

  • Fully conversant in AutoCAD;
  • Fluent in Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp and Microsoft Office;
  • Confident in creating technically accurate drawings, plans, sections and elevations;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Education / Experience

  • A minimum of 3 A Levels grades (A*- C), and educated to RIBA Part2 or equivalent professional qualification in a related discipline;
  • An appreciation of interior design specifications with a demonstrable understanding of national building standards, and applied building codes and specifications;

The selected candidate will have an excellent command of the English language together with a high standard of oral and written communication skills, a flexible approach to work demands, and an enthusiastic, collaborative and professional work ethic.
