Chef - Permanent / Part Time / Weekends

Chef to work part time (weekends) based in Earley, Reading offering an hourly rate of £9.00

The Liberty of Earley House is a well-regarded residential care home for the elderly and a great opportunity has arisen for a part time chef to join our friendly kitchen team.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for creating healthy and tasty menus for a variety of nutritional and dietary needs. Working alongside our head chef, you will be required to work with initiative to support the catering needs of our residents during the weekends.

The successful Chef will demonstrate:

• The delivery of high quality food menus that are tasty and healthy and meet the dietary requirements of our residents
• The ability to produce well-presented hot and cold food in accordance with menu requirements and the Charity's fresh food ethos, Health & safety and Food & Hygiene standards
• A passion for working with fresh, high quality food
• The ability to supervise kitchen staff; promote respect and work supportively alongside others
• Strong working knowledge of Food & Hygiene and Health & Safety Practices
• Flexibility, to be able to respond to the needs of residents as individual requirements change
• Experience of successfully managing the day to day, operational needs of a kitchen

• Good time management
• Able to work on own and as part of a team
• Able to cook to a high standard
• Give consideration to requests and seek feedback from residents and staff regarding individuals needs
• Previous experience of working in a kitchen providing meals for large numbers
• Experience of supervising staff
• Previous experience of working in a care home is desirable

Qualifications Required:

• The successful candidate must hold Level II in Food Safety or a similar qualification

Successful applicants are also required to provide an enhanced DBS (formerly known as CRB) disclosure. Disclosure expense will be met by the employer.
