About the job

As a Holiday Leader or Deputy Holiday Leader, you will make a real difference to people’s lives, whether it's nurturing small achievements, creating new connections or triggering life changing moments.

Your ability to lead and motivate a team of four to twelve volunteers - alongside an experienced co-Leader, or with support from a Deputy Leader for larger groups – will ensure that every holidaymaker receives the care and support they need to have a fantastic break away – and one which clearly meets their individual choices and aspirations.

You will have responsibility for the holiday group’s wellbeing and for maximising the holiday experience for all its participants. With full support from the Sense Holidays Team, this will involve:

• Preparation and planning before the holiday, including liaison with families, carers and holiday volunteers;
• The day-to-day management of the holiday; and
• Participation in reviewing and evaluating the holiday after it has finished.

Sense is a national charity that supports people who are deafblind, have sensory impairments or complex needs, to enjoy more independent lives. Our expertise in supporting individuals with communication needs benefits people of all ages, as well as their families and carers.

Each year, Sense supports up to 300 people of all ages who are deafblind, have sensory impairments or complex needs, on our programme of holidays, short breaks and leisure clubs. You’ll be joining a diverse team and network of leaders with a real passion for enabling individuals to get the most from their holiday.

Sense will give you a high level of individual support by phone and email, face-to -face training and support at our weekend preparation events – as well as a wealth of creative, innovative and practical ideas from the experience of your peers.
