Acorn Recruitment is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of their client.
Our client provides design, project management and construction solutions to the utility sector in the UK. They have gained an excellent reputation in their field and the company is experiencing rapid growth as a result.
A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor, to manage a project in the Chester area. If successful, you will manage project costs relating throughout the life cycle of the project.
You will be required to minimise the costs of the project and enhance value for money whilst ensuring that the project meets all legal and quality assurance requirements and regulations.
You will also manage and deliver the procurement of key sub-contractors and provide commercial assistance and advice in the negotiation and settlement of sub-contractor accounts.
You will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and agreement of final accounts. You will be a key point of liaison with internal stakeholders with the key objective of maintaining a pro-active approach to maximise project margins, and assist with the preparation of profit / loss reports and analysis for individual projects.
In addition to the above, you will also be expected to ensure the integrity and compliance with internal systems, processes and procedures

- Select and appoint suitable sub-contractors based on budget and programme requirements, ensuring sub-contract documentation is in place in accordance with company guidelines.
- Negotiate and agree sub-contracts in line with project budgets with the key objective of maximising project margins.
- Support and liaise with Project Managers to ensure sub-contract appointments are made in line with project programme requirements.
- Report on price variants, target delivery performance and supplier service levels.
- Undertake continuous monitoring and evaluation of the sub-contract supply chain on both a regional and national basis, taking necessary actions to rationalise/expand the data base of suppliers.
- Provide commercial support and assistance in resolving and agreeing sub-contractor accounts.
- Develop, maintain and improve supplier relationships.
- Attend internal meetings to support the delivery of projects in line with budget and programme requirements.
- Ensure that all suppliers / sub-contractors are evaluated in line with company health & safety and competency requirements.
-Provide commercial support and assistance in valuing variations for inclusion in the principal final account.
- Provide commercial support and assistance in the preparation of final accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of internal contract performance reports.
- Influence and challenge operational teams with the key objective of maximising project margins.
- Assist in the preparation and pricing of tenders.
- Efficient with Microsoft Office packages.
- Numerically minded.

- Industry knowledge and understanding - experience in electricity Transmissions and Distribution is very desirable.
