Childrens Senior Project Officer

£ 21,000 per annum

Full Time (40 hours per week)

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, reliable candidate who ideally holds a minimum of NVQ level 3 in Childcare and a full clean driving licence.

Management and childcare experience is essential for this role.

This position is based at their Harrow offices working alongside the Project Worker and Services Manager as well as attending their sessions within the Harrow area and overseeing the Supervisors in delivering a high-quality service.

The duties of this role include administration duties, managing sessional staff and leading activities for children and young people.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Supervise sessions to ensure activities meet and integrate with policies and procedures, statutory requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations and general duty of care
  • Managing all staff reporting to the position, to effectively evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their activities
  • Delegate staff to specific tasks
  • Identify potential risks and hazards at the session
  • Be a key member of the Senior Team contributing towards the development of the services
  • Identifying of relevant equipment and materials.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage work load to ensure a high quality service is delivered
  • Supervising and training new staff members and Supervisors
  • Leading a team to deliver high quality workshops, activities and residential care for young people with learning disabilities across various clubs within Harrow area
  • To offer stimulation and motivation through interaction and social activities
  • Provide behavioural support to the children and support to sessional staff accordingly
  • Working within Harrow Mencaps equal opportunities policy, ensuring cultural and
  • community understanding and sensitivity
  • Working within Harrow Mencap’s philosophy and mission statement, ensuring that the support offered to people with learning disabilities is person centred and is reflective of current good practice
  • To empower and advocate for people with learning disabilities involved in the project
  •  To contribute to the use of space in the setting, and help maintain an inventory of equipment
  • To report all concerns to the Service Manager, except in circumstances as identified within the Policies and Procedures
  • To have due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • To help the Charity maintain good working partnership with parents and carers
  • To offer support when required in their physical and personal needs and carry them out when necessary e.g. washing, feeding, dressing, toileting, mobility; with respect for privacy, dignity and encouraging independence

They are a small friendly team and are looking for someone who has previously worked within the care sector (ideally an agency setting) and have the appropriate level of experience to undertake this challenging but rewarding role.
