Our client is recruiting for a part time/term time Occupational Therapist for their College in Openshaw.

The College is a non-residential specialist FE college. They meet the needs of students up to the age of 25 years with learning difficulties and disabilities, complex needs, communication disorders and autism. They promote a multidisciplinary approach to learning and have expertise in supporting students with a wide range of needs.

As a registered Occupational therapist and a Member of Chartered Society of Occupational therapists – your role will include the following responsibilities, under the direction of the OT Lead;

 

  • To set targets, evaluate and record students’ progress and maintain records to the requirements of the College.
  • To supervise and monitor the health needs of students in accordance with standards for good occupational therapy practice
  • To prepare individual student treatment programmes including individual risk assessments and student support plans based on initial assessment.
  • To identify appropriate targets for student’s Individual Educational Programmes in collaboration with teaching and other staff
  • To determine the level and frequency of occupational therapy input; provide, implement and /or supervise appropriate OT programmes to achieve these targets.
  • To maintain appropriate records on progress towards these targets to the requirements of the College, Professional Practice, the Young People’s learning Agency and/or successor organisations, Annual Review reports and reports for parents’ evenings etc.
  • To support, lead, provide and manage the delivery of training associated with Occupational therapy in liaison with OT manager, SMT and the training coordinator.

Ideally you will have experience within an educational setting and will have worked with Learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities. Experience of challenging behaviour would also be preferable however you will benefit from an excellent training programme offered by the trust and you will be joining a dedicated team of OT’s who strive to make the College the outstanding college it is today!

For the safety of staff and the service users, training will be provided to assist employees to carry out their role, specifically the Movement & Management of Loads & People, Emergency First Aid and PROACT SCIPr UK training (this provides staff with the skills to carry out the sometimes necessary safe holds in a non threatening way).  Employees will be required to fully participate in all training.
