Management Accountant

A large outsourcing company is looking for a Management Accountant to support the IT outsourced function ensuring correct accounting for past results and in the monthly presentation of the financial forecast. In addition, the person appointed to the role will assist in delivering the forecast and operational strategy for the contract(s) covered.

The holder of the post will work closely with the management team to ensure that all financial reports accurately reflect latest operational developments, whilst making certain that proper controls are in place at all times and that integrity of financial reporting is respected.

The role reports to the senior Operations Accountant.

Key responsibilities:

- Support for the Budget Holders in preparation of their monthly financial results and forecasting activity, including assistance with journals, accruals and prepayments and any other accounting adjustments.
- Delivery of 'monthly operational board' reports for each operating unit in accordance with divisional requirements. These reports encompass financial reports for Profit and loss, current forecast for outturn, Capital expenditure, and risks and opportunities.
- Preparation and submission of monthly Balance Sheet report and provision of appropriate supporting documentation.
- Preparation and submission of other monthly reports including working capital forecast, forward order book, aged debt report and accrued income analysis.
- Work closely with Budget Holders in preparation of cost transfer agreements, capital expenditure requests, purchase order and supplier ledger activity, and other transactional requirements.
- Provide support to the management team in day to day financial activity and for any strategy of the development of the company.
- Advise the Budget Holders on financial management issues, and assist in providing a satisfactory control environment.
- Provide financial information and analysis to Senior Management and Budget Managers and to work with the business to ensure delivery of meaningful and robust data to assist in the day to day operation of the business.
- Support operational management in the preparation of the annual business Three Year Plan process.
- Assist Corporate Finance in the closure of the Annual Statutory Accounts ensuring compliance with all applicable accounting standards.
- Support delivery of effective pricing models to support bids for additional work.
- Support to the regional Operations Accountant on other contracts in the region as required.

Skills and competencies required:

- Technical component to the role - professional accounting qualification is essential.
- Highly competent with Microsoft Excel to support the analysis and provision of accounting returns, management information and other financial evaluations.
- Analytical skills for financial analysis and budgetary control.
- The ability to work closely with others (including operational management) in a team environment is essential.
- Clear and concise communication and presentation skills across all levels of the organisation will be needed in order to ensure that the role holder is able to fulfil the requirements of the post to their full extent.
- Organisational skills should be sufficient to ensure that projects are guided by clear plans and timescales
- Results focussed and able to get the job done efficiently and effectively.
- Displays ownership of tasks assigned, managing them through to a successful conclusion and overcoming obstacles encountered by securing the relevant help where necessary.
- Relevant experience in Local / Central Government roles would be an advantage.
