Researcher - Statistical Methodologist - 6 months - Newport

Researcher/Statistical methodologist needed to work on methodological projects relating to a wide range of statistical activities. These include, for example, designing samples; data cleaning, dealing with non-response in surveys; estimating for large/small areas and from non-survey sources - such as big data and administrative data; time series analysis; disclosure control. You will also provide methodological advice and quick-fire solutions.

Essential Skills:

• At least a 2:2 degree in a Social Science (ie Psychology or Sociology) and experience of working with question and questionnaire design issues. 2:1 is desirable.
• Knowledge of qualitative research and experience or knowledge of cognitive interviewing/in depth interviews/focus groups
• Research and report writing and the ability to present findings effectively and confidently both orally and in writing
• Experience of data collected through electronic means (including secure electronic transfer) e online questionnaires/email/telephone data entry
• Good problem solving skills, with the ability to identify the source of a problem and develop practical, workable solutions
• Enthusiastic, self motivated and proactive with the confidence to use their own initiative and prioritise work when necessary
