Senior Structural/Civil Engineer - Historic Buildings

A Senior Structural/Civil Engineer with experience dealing with Historic Buildings is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our defence client based in Portsmouth.

This is a 6 month contract working with a leading UK defence company.

Overview of the Senior Structural/Civil Engineer contract role

You will be required to undertake civil/structural appraisals and inspections on a wide range of buildings and structures including medium rise and single storey structures, historic buildings, wide span steel portal frames, concrete framed buildings, masonry structures etc. and report back with conclusions and recommendations. Undertake engineering feasibility assessments, preliminary and final designs and reports within own sphere of responsibility to professional standards and to agreed timescales.

Key skills required for the Senior Structural/Civil Engineer

• Knowledge and experience with working to current CDM regulations.
• Have a degree or HNC in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Incorporated or Chartered Engineer (ICE or ISE).
• Relevant post graduate experience to include structural building inspections and building design.
• Preparation of reports, repair schedules, correspondence and emails using Windows, MS Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Competent at designing in all general building materials including masonry, steel, timber and concrete by hand and using computer software (Tekla preferable).

The role is based in Portsmouth, Hampshire - commutable from Southampton, Cowes, Isle of Wight, Salisbury, Winchester, Andover, Basingstoke, Guildford, Aldershot, Crawley, Horsham, Brighton, Worthing, Chichester
