IT Developer - eCommerce & Logistics - Berkshire

To join a fast growing eCommerce logistics company which offers fully tracked international home deliveries for the E-commerce market. Due to the over-whelming demand of these services for both UK and International retailers we are looking to expand the IT function quickly with highly experienced individuals.

Reporting to the Head of Architecture, this role will be assisting in the development of Applications within the business.

The IT Developer will assist in the developing the Applications, using a variety of tools and technologies. This role will be required to provide the on-going development of applications to across all core businesses and will be a very project focused role.

Key Responsibilities

• A key member of the development team.
• Analyses problems (both technical and operational) and arrives at workable solutions
• To liaise with users regarding escalated issues and to agree appropriate courses of action and priorities.
• Design, document and develop new or enhance existing functionality to support business needs.
• To keep users up to date with progress and to liaise with colleagues and partners in a timely manner.
• To undertake and maintain own project and development plans and work in an agile manner using standardized development methodologies.
• Perform hands-on fixes, including software/hardware install and upgrade, version control best practices, and configuring systems and applications.

Skills/Attributes Required

• Excellent understanding of the development life cycle for business applications across a number of technologies in the UK and International market place.
• Strong .NET experience.
• WCF and Microsoft Messaging
• Ability to develop and produce efficient, scalable, reusable code using C#, XML, and other languages as needed (eg PHP would also be desirable).
• Create and design databases, views, stored procedures, T-SQL statements and user-defined functions of varying complexity with a best practices approach to keys, indices and relationships in MS SQL Server (MySQL experience also desirable).

• This is a key role and fundamental to the support capabilities required to support the growth aspirations. Going forward the support function will need to grow in line with the business and this role will help to shape and manage this capability.
