Senior Buyer - Defence

A Senior Buyer with defence experience is required to work on a twelve month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our defence client based in Preston.

This is a 12 month contract working for a leading UK defence company.

Overview of the Senior Buyer contract role

You will be required to conduct pre-qualification and surveys of potential suppliers for major contracts with our defence client.

Required previous experience for the Senior Buyer position

• Issue tenders.
• Prepare & maintain Procurement Plans.
• Provide commercial assistance to the customer and supplier during the tender period.
• Receive that tender returns and action in accordance with the appropriate governance guidelines.
• Plant and equipment/construction experience (desirable).
• Prepare commercial recommendations for the award of contracts (in conjunction with our professional advisors, if necessary).
• Notify unsuccessful bidders in writing.
• Negotiate or assist in contract & price negotiations.

The role is based in Preston, Lancashire - commutable from Blackpool, Lancaster, Morecambe, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool and Leeds.
