Overview:

+ Manage and coordinate the finance activity in Stoke to support the UK Finance Team and the Stoke Management Team in the production of timely and accurate Company management and financial accounts.

+ Support the finance department's financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions to further financial performance by driving the Company's financial weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual forecast and budgeting process, operating plan variance analysis and project accounting.

+ Provide key management information, financial insight and support to senior management to aid better business understanding and decision making and actively contribute to raising the quality and standard of financial information, financial behaviour and financial support throughout the business.

+ This is a business facing role that will have interaction with a number of non-finance employees with the aim to further develop in them strong finance ethics and rigorous, accurate and timely finance planning and analysis, and will develop strong relationships within the finance team to further the Company's performance and support the FP&A agenda.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting and business tracking

+ Complete the month end process and assist in the process to produce timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual company accounts to include profit and loss account, balance sheet, operating cash flow statements and capital expenditure, ensuring accuracy in the Navision and Hyperion reporting, insuring all reporting ties to the GL.

+ Develop, maintain and improve the suite of reporting, such that it is easy to digest, around the key areas of operational performance, revenue, inventory, project accounting and inter-company transactions, providing assistance as necessary to the business to ensure that the reports are timely and attention directing, to ensure that the performance of the business can be assessed, questioned, understood and changed at all times.

+ Perform monthly and ad-hoc analytical reviews to operational performance, revenues, inventory and projects with the view to; understand and explain variances to Budget/ Forecast; identify unusual items and bring them to management's attention; analyse and monitor key risk areas where attention is needed.

Budget / Forecasts

+ Complete the relevant local forecasts and budgets and provide support to the FP&A Manager as required, to ensure forecasts and budgets are delivered on time and complete and are well-considered and understood and are in line with business strategic plans.

Control

+ Develop a rigorous balance sheet reconciliation process that produces a complete reconciliation for each account monthly, driving improvements in quality and timeliness.

+ Develop control environment: working with the Finance Director and the Financial Controller, continually assess the control environment and suggest and implement changes to it throughout the business. Maintenance of GL, audit of prices, stock takes, fixed assets and control environment compliance.

Business partnering

+ Work with the business to enable them to better understand Navision and the link between activity on the shop floor and it representation in the accounts to ensure that the accounts are at all times a fair reflection of where we are.

Direct report

With regard to direct reports, appraise, feedback, train and manage day to day performance including an annual review within our appraisal process to drive continual improvement. Where necessary, conduct recruitment and selection processes and other management tasks as required.

Other

+ It will be imperative that good relations are to be established with the finance team for cross-fertilisation of ideas and methodologies to take place both in the UK and the US.

+ Aid the continuing development of revenue recognition standards within the wider non-finance community.

+ Drive the continuing development and motivation of the whole Finance Team and to contribute to the business development of the team.

+ Recommend new procedures and policies that will improve efficiency and identify non-value added activities and find costs effective ways of reducing them to a minimum

Essential Qualifications and skills:

+ Good interpersonal skills and understanding of organisations, being able to clearly explain financial information and terminology to non-technical parties and to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and with external parties such as auditors.

+ Inspires others to achieve. Learns and shares knowledge.

Qualified accountant, preferably ACA/ CIMA, including knowledge of technical issues and taxation.

+ Must be proficient in the use of PC software applications as well as experience in the operation of integrated accounting ledgers, along with advanced excel skills

+ Experience of US GAAP and/ or a manufacturing environment would be an advantage.

+ Experience of Navision and/or Hyperion would be an advantage.

Salary:

Up to GBP60,000 plus benefits.
