Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Network with new and existing customers to identify and assess new business opportunities, and undertake feasibility assessments for new land inclusive developments.
  • Prepare 'offer documentation' to existing and new clients to identify a suitable delivery partner.
  • Liaise with the team and Land Agents to ensure land is secured and contracts are entered into in line with agreed timescales, and that legal consultants are appointed via the framework
  • Formulate and agree form of building contract (Development agreement or JCT)
  • Appoint and manage key consultants e.g. architects and engineers, to produce scheme specific information and ensure the timely submission of schemes to the appropriate planning authority and statutory bodies in line with agreed timescales.
  • Procure suitable supporting information e.g. surveys, reports, assessments etc. required to support the planning process and enable sufficient pre delivery planning/design.
  • When required organise and lead customer meetings and provide information as requested to do so.
  • Identify and mitigate against risk and work with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to manage risk pre start on site, and ensure the progress of each project is monitored so that key milestones are achieved.
  • Capture and share learning from each project by constant review and champion continuous improvement.
  • Promote and represent Strategic Team Group when appropriate in order to maximise development opportunities and the reputation of the company.

The successful candidate will be thorough, with strong prioritisation skills and attention to detail. They will have excellent communication skills at all levels, both written and verbal, along with an ability to build productive stakeholder relationships.

Regular travel will be required throughout the Midlands and Yorkshire areas, therefore, a willingness and ability to travel is essential.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a Development role within the Construction industry; ideally in either Affordable Housing, Care or Property Development
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and lead the development process
  • Proficient in MS Office programmes; particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to delegate when required
  • Experience of cost analysis and planning within a commercial environment
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as autonomously
