Salary: £9.50 per hour

The Company

Our client is a market leader in the niche area of civil engineering within the water industry. Their company's success can be attributed to their extensive knowledge and experience gained from working closely with their clients to deliver a range of cost-effective engineering solutions including the repair, refurbishment and maintenance of water company reservoirs, and associated assets along with the new construction of new assets to values up to £2m.

The day-to-day duties

The Stores Person / Warehouse operative will be reporting to the Team Leader the post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of stock, machinery and equipment held at Stonbury offices.

• Loading and unloading delivery vehicles
• Driving company vehicles when required
• Picking products and following pick lists
• Liaising with drivers to ensure accurate stock checks
• Warehouse stock checks as and when required
• Maintain the cleanliness of all working areas ensuring Health and Safety hazards are met, and reporting issues, near misses and accidents using the appropriate channels procedures in a timely fashion.
• Ensure the correct storage, control and use of all COSHH Materials located within the stores and all machinery and equipment, cleaning materials etc
• Responsible for the control, issue and receipt of all deliveries / collections
• Oversee and monitor all stocktaking procedures
• Carry out repairs to equipment and carry out PAT testing
• Liaise with site staff and procurement department to ensure correct equipment and materials are ready when required.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications required:

• The ability to easily locate and control stock in the Stores
• Physically fit with the ability to lift and/or move heavy items
• Full clean UK driving license
• The ability to work unsupervised and on your own initiative and keep yourself busy during quiet periods
• A good communicator, able to liaise confidently with suppliers and engage with team members on a daily basis.
• Organised and focused
• A positive attitude and committed to high levels of care for other staff members
• Able to work flexibly in line with business requirements
• Able to work to a high standard of health and safety and quality. Basic knowledge of health and safety is essential.

Desirable

• Fork lift/Telehandler
• Stores person /Workshop experience
• PAT Training Certificate
• Knowledge of COSHH
• Experience in store management and/or systems
