Our 161,000 colleagues at Sainsbury’s are incredibly important to us. And ensuring they get paid for their hard work accurately and timely each month is the responsibility of our talented Payroll team. We simply couldn’t do it without them.

You’ll be combining your in-depth knowledge of Payroll legislation and calculations, with your excellent customer service skills to ensure that all Payroll data is processed and validated within timelines and guidelines. You’ll be known as the real specialist for your area, and ensure that everything is in ship-shape condition by correcting any errors, updating systems, and carrying out regular checks.

This is a close-knit team, and you’ll all work together to ensure that workloads are managed on a daily basis, and all queries are responded to accurately and promptly. Of course you’ll have the opportunity to help out the other Payroll teams when needed.

Main Duties:

• All data processed, validated accurately and promptly, ensuring that all statutory and corporate payroll procedures are maintained and operated correctly.
• Ensure that all control, exception reports and reconciliations are thoroughly checked within agreed departmental deadlines, correcting errors, updating systems and carrying out regular checks as appropriate.
• Ensure manual payments have been appropriately authorised and checked before being paid and that where necessary tax and National Insurance has correctly been accounted for.
• Manage the workloads on a daily basis, ensuring that queries are dealt with accurately and promptly and that only the appropriate agencies and individuals are supplied with correct information.
• Ensure a high quality customer service is provided to both internal and external customers.
• Support colleagues in other payroll teams and provide cover during periods of absence.
